Hike Kalalau Trail

One of the most popular hikes in Hawaii, the Kalalau Trail, is world famous for its unparalleled natural splendor. This 11 mile long trail runs along the scenic Na Pali Coast, featuring roaring waterfalls and secluded beaches. As you travel through narrow valleys and across rugged sea cliffs, you’ll experience all the grandeur Kaua’i has to offer. Kalalau is a more challenging trail, and shouldn’t be attempted without preparations, but you’ll be rewarded by a once in a lifetime experience in the island jungle.

The Kalalau Trail is an 11 mile long trail which winds through several valleys, hugging the Pacific ocean along the Na Pali Coast as it goes. It begins with a gentle, two mile hike to the spectacular Hanakapiai Falls. This is an easy journey to a beautiful beach, perfect for a short day trip. Going beyond this point will require a permit, which should be reserved as much as 4 months out. The full trail will take a full day to traverse, so come prepared to spend the night. The Kalalau Trail is not for beginners, has limited facilities, and can be very dangerous in bad weather conditions. But the untouched beaches you’ll find make all the effort worth it. Be prepared before you attempt it, and you’ll have a magical experience.

Escape to the island paradise of Kaua’i and explore the pristine jungle of the Kalalau Trail. You’ll see for yourself why Kalalau has been called “the most incredible” hiking trail in the United States. Get ready to explore the epic Na Pali coastal trail and see all of what Kaua’i has to offer.
