Hike Waipo’o Falls Trail

Nestled in the majestic Waimea Canyon on Kaua’i, the Waipo’o Falls Trail climbs to the pools at the top of the falls. At 3.6 miles, this scenic route is perfect for hikers of any ability and features breathtaking views of the area and the canyon’s multi-hued rock formations. You’ll encounter two scenic overlooks of the Waimea Canyon, and experience the bubbling waters feeding the Waipo’o Falls.

The Waipo’o Falls Trail winds through a beautiful forest and wraps along the canyon side. Along the way, you’ll be able to experience up close the texture and colors of the ancient rocks in the canyon wall. Waimea Canyon is sometimes called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Once you’ve experienced it’s majesty, you’ll understand why.

Though the trail goes to the top of Waipo’o Falls, some are surprised that they can barely see the waterfall. In fact, there’s only a few viewpoints along the trail that offer a look at the falls. Instead, you’ll find yourself at the spring feeding the falls, made up of babbling creeks and cool pools of water. Slide into the refreshing waters at the top of the falls and take in the canyon stretched out beneath you.

Come to Kaua’i and experience the Waipo’o Falls first hand. One of the most pleasant hikes on Hawaii, your adventure in Waimea Canyon will show you the magic of the island landscape.
